- costs are different between ranked and unranked. a ranked server for 18 players costs $14,95 and a unranked $0,99 per player

and another rumoer about that is, that you maybe will have a chance to make your own settings on the unranked.

The rumour about the Beta

- there is still an internal Beta running, with thousands of tester
- at the moment and in the near future there will be no public Beta for the game

Couple of weeks ago some Black Ops beta ads were found on Bing (search engine) and now similar ads have started to appear on Google as well. The multiplayer beta test hasn’t been officially announced yet, but based on the new ads on Google, it’s not that far away: "Sign up for the exclusive Xbox 360 multiplayer beta on September 1." Black Ops Beta Ad On Google This should be taken with a bucket of salt!

The beta is supposedly only on Xbox 360, which shouldn't surprise anyone, considering the fact that all future Call of Duty add-ons will launch first on the Xbox 360. The deal between Activision and Microsoft will last until 2012 and should include beta tests as well. Treyarch's previous game, Call of Duty: World at War, had a beta test and every big release these days has one, just look at Halo: Reach, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and the dozens of games before them.

The URL in the ad has been used in the World at War beta, but it's currently redirecting visitors to the Call of Duty homepage. It's also been known for a while that the user registration page at the official website hints at a possible beta for members: "First-in-the-world access to REDACTED -- you are not yet cleared for this information."

Stay tuned for the full multiplayer reveal on 1st of September. We might learn more about the beta test at the end of the trailer, but don't get your hopes up.

Wissen Politiker eigentlich, worüber sie sprechen, wenn sie Computerspiele kritisieren? Demnächst darf im Bundestag geballert werden: Drei junge Abgeordnete haben ihre über 600 Kollegen auf eine LAN-Party eingeladen. Neben einer Vielzahl an Spaß- und Familienspielen werden auch Ego-Shooter gezeigt.


Vermutlich wissen wenige Abgeordnete, was man auf einer LAN-Party erleben kann. Noch kleiner dürfte die Gruppe derjenigen Volksvertreter sein, die selbst einmal auf einem derartigen Treffen waren, auf dem Nutzer ihre Computer zu einem Netz zusammenschließen. Das soll sich ändern. In den kommenden Wochen werden alle Abgeordneten des Bundestages eine persönliche Einladung zum gemeinschaftlichen "Zocken" erhalten. Absender: drei junge Abgeordnete der schwarz-gelben Koalition. Am Montagabend erklärten die Koalitionspolitiker in Berlin ihre Pläne.

Die Bundestagsabgeordneten Dorothee Bär (CSU), Manuel Höferlin und Jimmy Schulz (beide FDP) führen ein digitales Leben. Bei Facebook und Twitter lassen sie "Follower" an ihrem politischen Alltag teilhaben, iPhone und iPad sind ständige Begleiter. Doch nicht alle neuen Medien genießen unter Politikern hohes Ansehen. Vor allem Computerspiele sind in den vergangenen Jahren nicht zuletzt nach Amokläufen an deutschen Schulen in Verruf geraten.

Schulz sagt, ihn ärgere es, dass Computerspiele immer wieder als Erklärung für Gewaltexzesse herangezogen würden. Die Diskussion müsse versachlicht und emotionsfrei geführt werden, fordert der Obmann der Enquetekommission "Internet und digitale Gesellschaft". Daher die Idee, eine LAN-Party für Angeordnete zu organisieren. Diese soll Schulz zufolge dabei helfen, Berührungsängste gegenüber Computerspielen abzubauen.

Stattfinden soll die Party im Herbst, ein endgültiger Termin steht noch nicht fest. Wohl aber die Gästeliste: Auf ihr stehen laut Schulz alle 622 Abgeordneten des Bundestages sowie jene Politiker, die "mit undifferenzierter Betrachtungsweise" von Computerspielen aufgefallen seien. Namen nennt er nicht. Dabei haben wollen die Politiker auch Vertreter der Freiwilligen Selbstkontrolle, die Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung und Spielehersteller, ebenso wie die Suchtbeauftragte der Bundesregierung, Mechthild Dyckmans, Medienpädagogen und versierte Spieler.
Bär will nicht von "Killerspielen" reden

Nach den Plänen der Initiatoren soll unter Anleitung von Profis gespielt werden. Sport-, Strategie- und Geschicklichkeitsspiele stehen auf dem Programm. Auf der LAN-Party sollen die Politiker aber auch ein Spiel der besonders umstrittenen Kategorie Ego-Shooter kennenlernen. "Schließlich sind wir im Bundestag schon alle über 18", scherzt die CSU-Politikerin Bär.

Mit der provokanten Idee verfolgt sie gleichwohl ein ernsthaftes Ziel. Sie wolle erreichen, dass über Computerspiele nicht mehr "Schwarz-weiß diskutiert" werde. Das "K-Wort", also Killerspiele, meidet sie im Falle der Ego-Shooter nach eigenem Bekunden ausdrücklich.

Vorbild der für Ende Oktober oder Anfang November geplanten LAN-Party im Bundestag ist Bär zufolge ein Parlamentarischer Spieleabend, der im vergangenen Jahr im Bayerischen Landtag stattfand. Organisiert hatte ihn der medienpolitische Sprecher der CSU-Landtagsfraktion, Eberhard Sinner. Damals testeten die Abgeordneten 60 PC-Spiele, darunter auch das recht gewalttätige "GTA 4".

Finanziert werden soll die LAN-Party im Reichstag von den einladenden Abgeordneten und Fraktionen. Bär zufolge fiel die Resonanz der Unionsfraktion sehr positiv aus. Der CSU-Parteivorsitzende Horst Seehofer sei bekennender "Computerfreak". Auch die anderen Abgeordneten seien aufgeschlossen. "Ihre Hauptsorge ist es, schlecht zu spielen", scherzte Bär.

This feat may sound impossible, but for Game Informer reader and hardcore Modern Warfare 2 player Glen McCracken, it's only a matter of time. In two hours of playing, Glen has reached rank 5 without taking a life. Using pacifist means to earn points, Glen estimates it will take him roughly two months to be the first player to reach rank 70 with zero kills.

Why would someone attempt such a strange feat? "I've already hit Prestige five times. I thought it would be something interesting to do," Glen said. "It definitely gives you a different perspective on the game, and it's fun and challenging." Currently Glen's kill to death ratio is zero kills and eighty-nine deaths. He says he primarily uses a riot shield and flash bang grenades. Both of these tools can easily lead to a kill if an enemy is injured prior to engagement. Glen also uses rockets to blow up killstreaks. He also achieves valuable experience points by securing flags in Domination. He does play team deathmatch, and as you would expect, his teammates are not happy with his zero kill performances. Stick to Domination, Glen.
